Your Role on Our Team
As a Project Leader within the Machine Learning group, you will be a hands-on leader tasked with managing multiple projects at various stages in the product development life cycle from front-end-innovation to final product launch. For each project, you will guide a highly cross-functional team to developing and implementing machine learning algorithms on power tool.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Drive development of machine learning algorithms for power tools that address user needs while fulfilling cost, timing, reliability, and high-volume manufacturing requirements.
- Manage machine learning projects at variety of maturities and in various stages of the product development cycle (concept, platform, advanced, and new product development).
- Track machine learning development projects to completion. Ensure goals are clearly defined. Negotiate schedules, resources, and budgets with stakeholders.
- Guide and coordinate cross-functional project team. This includes daily team communications as well as high level project summaries.
- Communicate technical details, ideas, and concepts to engineers and non-engineers.
- Clearly identify and track risks and opportunities. Implement risk reduction plans.
- Frame up technical trade-off discussions with Marketing and other cross function team members to manage scope, schedule, and other technical consequences.
- Adhere to and apply established procedures and phase gates. Anticipate engineering deliverables in all phases.
- Improve upon and define new processes for managing Machine Learning projects when needed.
- Develop Schedules, agendas, facilitates and documents project meetings. Track project schedule to ensure adherence to timelines. Regularly make presentations of project status.
- Anticipate, identify, and navigate integration challenges that must be overcome to incorporate Machine Learning into power tool products. Effectively scrutinize designs for potential weaknesses and suggest improvements.
- Maintain an awareness of competitive offerings and the general business climate in the power tool industry.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
- 7 or more years of engineering experience in related field.
- Willingness to travel 10-15%.
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- Master's degree in project management, Systems Engineering, or Organizational Studies.
- Experience in managing low to moderate complexity projects to develop new products, components, or systems.
- High aptitude for machine learning, embedded firmware, and/or electrical engineering.
- Excellent problem identification and resolution skills.
- Results driven and deadline orientated. Ability to manage projects to difficult schedules and results. Ability to handle fast paced, and agile culture. Ability to adapt to constant change and competing priorities.
- Formal project management training.
- Machine learning or embedded systems project experience preferred.
- Ability to draft comprehensive test plans and specifications.
