Your Role on Our Team
As the Sr. Data Engineer (Data Governance), your role is to lead and manage data governance activities which will allow Milwaukee Tool to leverage Speed, Agility, and Urgency when making data-driven decisions. Working closely with the business and other Data Platform Team members, you will design, develop, and support the foundational systems of our data platform. This involves leveraging best practices and emerging technologies to implement data governance tools, processes, and the governance components necessary to support our customer and team data needs. A successful candidate will have a passion for learning and experimentation and desire to share their knowledge with others for the better of our customers.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for driving enterprise data governance that ensures data quality, minimizes data interruptions, and is consistently implemented across multiple platforms.
- Work with our technology team, product managers and business stakeholders to identify, scope and mitigate the highest data governance priorities
- Create and maintain governance documentation that is continuously updated with the most relevant information for stakeholder reference and will regularly assess and evolve the governance approach to handle future analytics implementations needs.
- Own and leverage internal data governance tools to ensure business glossary accuracy, set alerts and monitoring tasks to ensure data is maintained accurately across platforms.
- Move with speed, agility, and urgency to meet the business data needs while also focusing on long-term proactive and innovative solutions.
- Leverage your expertise within the software development lifecycle, continuous improvement, and best practices to help drive the team towards rapid success.

The TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent relevant experience.
- 8 or more years of professional development experience.
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- Requires strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Highly skilled in Alation or other Data Governance tools
- Highly skilled in designing, building, and maintaining data governance processes.
- Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management services
- Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches to related data protection.
- Knowledge of data governance regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
- Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions
- Experience with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change, and performance measurement system design.
- Experience leading and mentoring others.
- A self-starter who loves learning and teaching others.
- Experience defining and driving a technical strategy.
