The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer supports and assists in the execution and deployment of an enterprise-wide business process improvement strategy. The CI Engineer is a change agent responsible for building a culture of waste elimination by driving kaizen, completing assigned CI projects and standardization activities to enhance overall customer experience, reduce costs, and streamline processes.
This position is a fundamental part of our cross-functional team located in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong, action-oriented contributor with a passion for continuous improvement in various high-volume manufacturing processes including assembly, injection molding, machining, and others. Particularly looking for a candidate with experience establishing visual management systems, developing standard work, flow cell development concepts, and with material flow systems; including Kanban.
It will also be necessary to be a strong contributor, facilitating and leading kaizen events and assigned process mapping activities. You will need to influence and motivate teams that span multiple departments from project definition through sustainment of improvements.
You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Capability to be a self-starter, passionate to learn lean manufacturing concepts and drive execution.
- Facilitate Kaizen, Quick hit and assigned CI projects from definition through execution. Coordinate cross-functional resources for these events and communicate the results as required.
- Work with other Operational Excellence lean resources and teams to standardize lean manufacturing tools and systems. Build the skills of shop-floor associates through hands-on interactions and personal coaching in lean manufacturing tools.
- Establish visual management tools as a basis for continuous improvement.
- Execute kaizen events using kaizen event leader skills. Drive accountability for kaizen teams to execute events by assisting in the preparation and follow-up processes.
- Track transformation progress through data collection and analysis.
- Assist in reporting, management updates, and best practice sharing throughout the organization.
- Ensure changes are fully integrated through 30, 60, 90 day follow-up and communication, perseverance and consistency.
- Use and execute appropriate lean tools depending on situation -- Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, JIT, Kanban, Visual Management, Pull systems, Cell Design,- Root cause, and 5-why analysis.
- Travel required as needed.
What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent years of directly related experience in Lean/Continuous Improvement roles
- 2+ years of experience with lean manufacturing tools and systems.
- Previous kaizen event leader, problem solving, manufacturing process improvement experience.
- Proficiency in Lean tools such as Kaizen, Standard Work, Visual Management, TAKT Time and Cell Design, Pull System (Kanban).
- Data analysis skills in MS Excel, Pareto, Control charts, Minitab etc.
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- Lean or Lean Six Sigma Certification green/white/yellow belt.
