MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING MANAGER - 20594
Mukwonago, WILead the Manufacturing Engineering team to develop and implement manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Ensures the manufacturing engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively to delivery on safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics. Responsible for the development of equipment, automation and new processes for existing product and new product development. Mentor and develop engineering team to meet the growing needs of the operation.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Direct engineering team to provide day-to-day support for production operations. Lead or assist with problem-solving to minimize downtime, maximize throughput, and ensure safety and quality.
- Research, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes and capital equipment to improve current throughput, scrap/rework reduction, reduce cost, improve quality and improve reliability.
- Drive major strategic cost, quality and delivery initiatives with aggressive focus on breakthrough process and technology improvements to achieve a substantial competitive advantage.
- Oversee and conduct equipment certification and run-off, using statistical analysis tools to verify process rate, capability and Gage R&R.
- Oversee Continuous Improvement and cost savings projects, including Kaizen Activities, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, OEE, Work Instructions, Time Studies, Line Balancing, etc.
- Work with project leads, NPD engineers to coordinate NPD builds and follow up actions, including but not limited to Engineering Builds, Qualification Builds, and Pilot builds.
- Create collaborative project communication channels with NPD, Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Scheduling, Quality, Supervision, and floor operators.
- Develop and maintain Gantt Charts, Project Schedule, Risk Assessment, and Contingency Plans.
- Develop action plans, project metrics, and then measure and report progress of improvements on an ongoing basis.
- Deliver formal presentations to leadership regarding project status.
- Work with management team to develop strategy for plant to support company growth goals
- Provide multiple what-if scenarios to find best total cost solution.
- Exhibit vision and foresight to test process extremes and build a robust risk assessment analysis matrix to ensure project success.
- Identify and work with outside technical resources on specific projects and/or products when appropriate, i.e., universities, consultants, Research and Development, suppliers, customers, etc.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Engineering Technology, or equivalent years of directly related experience
- Minimum five years related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum three years in a leadership position
- Have excellent project management skills with demonstrated sense of urgency
- Have excellent organizational skills and possess knowledge of production systems and techniques
- Must demonstrate excellent analytical and logic thinking skills to understand and analyze complex business processes
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Metal Stamping, Machining processes, and Injection Molding applications
- Experience in Automated Assembly, Controls, Manual Assembly, Laser Marking Processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite -- Including MS Project
- Advanced Data analysis Skills in MS Excel and/or Minitab
- Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, etc.
