The Product Marketing Team is responsible for working directly with engineering teams and multiple marketing and sales disciplines to create solutions to the challenges tradesmen face every day. The backbone of this process is research done in person, with tradesmen, and on the jobsite to uncovering underlying challenges in productivity and safety. This commitment to the trades enables the team to research, develop and commercialize disruptive new products and collaborate with various cross functional teams to meet the company's goals.

Your Role on Our Team

Under the direction of and reporting to a Senior Manager of Platform Product Development, the Platform Product Manager -- Embedded System's primary duties will be to work on and assist in developing the product strategy, product vision, product roadmap, goals, and metrics. Project roles will include coaching, developing, motivating, and positively influencing cross functional teams to meet challenging projects and business objectives. You will be responsible for developing solutions to keep our ends users safe and productive on the jobsite.

You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead in the initial stages in the development of new embedded tool platforms including primary and secondary market research, competitive analysis, and implementation plans that include financial analysis, product segmentation, and potentially messaging strategy
  • Actively monitor the platform development process in all phases to ensure external and internal customer input throughout. Represent the category at key management decision points within the process.
  • Initiate and develop market research plans. Review the process and methodology to ensure appropriateness of the research based on the project scope. Perform end user interviews, job site visits and field testing. Provide customer input throughout the new product development process to help generate additional value of the platform. Study and interpret findings and report to senior management. 
  • Collaborate with NPD product marketing teams to identify gaps in technology platforms and how to leverage and grow existing platforms
  • Manage and prioritize platform feature development activities for existing platforms to ensure fit with product strategy and overall company Develop a tactical schedule for the completion of key new platform feature development efforts and works to secure the marketing resources necessary to complete these tasks on time.
  • Guide a cross functional team, defining the strategy and product plan development for assigned product categories.
  • Act as an individual and team contributor when developing framework of strategic initiatives and business reporting.
  • Develop new platform launch tactics including internal and external launch communications, standardizing commercial messaging across multiple product categories, and developing best practices on how to best utilize and grow established platforms
  • Act as the subject matter expert for platform capabilities, limitations, and user needs

The TOOLS you'll bring with you:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related area and 4 or more years of experience in a marketing/sales role.
  • Platform and/or Systems experience; preferably experience in Embedded (Hardware, Firmware, IOT) Platform Product Management specifically
  • Accomplished analytic, communication, and interpersonal skills plus demonstrated problem solving and choice-making abilities.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

  • Ability to define and drive platform level design requirements based on end user needs.
  • Experience with wireless products, embedded technology, etc.
  • Experience conducting end user and distribution research.
  • Experience building embedded platform roadmaps to support market segmentation
