The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will work with a new team at Milwaukee Tool to design and architect large-scale battery and charger systems, platforms, and products. You will also collaborate with marketing, engineering, and operations to build and execute a market disrupting vision.

You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Primary technical resource and mechanical engineering leader on mid/high complexity New Product Development projects.
  • Provide clear engineering information to Project Leaders and the Global Engineering teams facilitating trade off decisions.
  • Establish test regimens for products within scope of the project with minimal guidance. Deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations
  • Independently develop, write and analyze testing reports in internal laboratory.
  • Serve as a technical resource on areas of expertise and provide consultation / mentorship to others.
  • Execute a wide variety of engineering analyses using the following tools:
    • Design of Experiments (DOE)
    • Statistical data analysis
    • Finite Element Analysis
  • Quickly, effectively, and candidly frame-up and escalate business risks/opportunities to senior leadership
  • Effectively communicate and motivate up, down, and across the organization to a diverse range of technical and non-technical team members
  • Champion and drive new processes and procedures to meet the needs of a changing business

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in battery and charger system design or related field
  • High proficiency in 3D CAD -- ProE, Solidworks, NX, or similar
  • Ability to incorporate customer requests with industry standards to create robust designs
  • Never settle, always improving approach
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international)

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics, Masters preferred
  • Strong knowledge in power electronics construction and thermal management
  • Experience with component design including injection molding, die casting, and stamping
  • Understanding of material properties and their affects on cost, weight, strength and thermal performance
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis for structural, thermal and air flow
  • Familiarity with mechanical design and thermal management concepts
