Working with regular direction and guidance from Engineering Management, primary duty is to utilize entry level to intermediate level engineering skills to contribute to the development and execution of new products and support of existing products within the department.
Duties and Responsibilities
New Product Service Support
- With support from Product Management, identify after-market service needs for new product launches.
- Responsible for factory readiness to execute after-market fulfillment. Raw material availability, engineering requirements, routings, BOM management are all requirements.
- Track warranty activity and initiate corrective action during first 6MO's after new product launch.
- Identify opportunities for factory-wide improvement in after-market support. Service cell creation, efficiency & cost improvement, and work instruction creation.
- Service-specific manufacturing fixture development.
- Lead simple to medium complex projects under guidance from Engineering management & Project management.
- Facilitate project flow involving regular contact with Service Leadership, Operations, Manufacturing & Quality Engineering to achieve after-market delivery to a global service network on schedule.
- Track project schedule to ensure adherence to timeliness; keep Engineering Management informed on project and product support issues.
- Occasionally make formal presentations regarding project status.
- Participate as a key member of a team working on projects of a large scope.
- Develop and maintain familiarity and understanding of the various cell operations.
- Understanding of operations accounting & plant profit generation.
- Routing assessment and scheduling.
- Understanding of labor efficiency and how to directly apply to after-market scheduling.
- Interact with suppliers to ensure material availability to after-market programs.
- Basic understanding of Value Analysis and Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) methodology.
- Basic understanding of the various cost drivers associated with materials, labor & overhead.
- Be able to manage several simultaneous, non-major cost reduction initiatives.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or educational equivalent.
- Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
