Your Role on Our Team
Reporting to the IT Manager of Storage, Compute, and Cloud; the Systems Engineer's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of Milwaukee Tool information systems. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, and supporting all server and storage systems. In this position, you will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues while partnering with the business to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Collaborate with related technology staff to ensure smooth and reliable day-to-day operation of systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes and provide on-call tier two and three end-user system support.
- Provide hardware and operating system implementation and support for servers and storage systems for local and remote sites.
- Utilize monitoring and performance tools to proactively identify and resolve issues; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Provide orientation, training, and guidance to relevant stakeholder for all modified and new systems.
- Possible travel to assist and support projects at remote locations
- Provide support for enterprise systems including but not limited to:
- Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- System Center Operations Manager
- System Center Configuration Manager
- Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
- Network File Shares
- Backup Technologies
- Azure
- Microsoft 365 Suite
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Associates degree in Information Technology, or relevant work experience.
- 3 or more years designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure systems.
- Background in configuring and supporting Systems Center family of products (SCOM, SCCM).
- Background in configuring and supporting Solarwinds and other monitoring tools.
- Background in supporting Windows and Linux Servers, PowerShell/Scripting, Virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi), and MS Exchange.
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- Background in supporting cloud services (Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365)
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2 or more years of hands-on experience in many of the following technologies: SSO/MFA, Active.
- Certification in ITIL Framework
- Understanding of Programming/scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, JSON, YAML, and SQL).
- Directory, Storage Systems (Panzura, Azure File Sync, TrueNAS), NetApp.
- Understanding of Networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Troubleshooting Skills -- Understanding of the OSI Model.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple assignments; ability to adapt to changes quickly.
- Self-Motivated with minimum supervision, with keen attention to detail.
- Understanding of Project Management Skills, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Ability to use customer-services oriented techniques to determine and resolve problems and respond competently with the appropriate sense of urgency to customer requests.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
