The Sr. Operations Project Leader is responsible for leading global strategic operations for new & existing large equipment. This role will focus on manufacturing processes such as welding, forging, and other metalworking in a heavy industrial, low volume setting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set manufacturing strategies for growing large equipment segment to support the global growth of the business.
  • Own the strategy and perform make vs make vs buy analysis to determine ideal manufacturing locations. Support the manufacturing strategy with localized supplier base or in-house vertical integration strategy for components and sub-assemblies.
  • Determine optimal manufacturing footprint and capability to support long-term category growth with differentiated needs from the rest of the Power Tools business.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure product categories have a sustainable and scalable sourcing strategy.
  • Coordinate across the supply chain to develop the capability to service end users efficiently and cleanly through distribution and logistics.
  • Liaison and coordinate with teams to develop a strategy for Service, to be scaled appropriately with growth.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive change and implement new processes and systems needed to successfully manufacture products to meet the needs of a rapidly growing business category.
  • Consistently visualize the entire scope of a project with very little guidance.
  • Communicate, both verbally and written, to ensure all groups are working toward the goal of timely project completion. Regularly make presentations of project status for various levels of the organization.
  • Quickly, effectively, and candidly frame up and escalate business risks/opportunities to senior leadership. Converge solutions, options, and plans, given general direction, for leadership discussion in a relevant timeframe.
  • Regularly schedule, develop agendas, facilitate, and present project status and document project meetings. Vital to be extremely organized and detailed-oriented.
  • Possess a high sense of urgency and deliver information in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a strategic cross-functional mindset and understand how team decisions will impact the entire organization.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent years of directly related experience in Operations roles (Assembly/Manufacturing Engineer, Fabrication Engineer, NPD Project Manager, Value Stream Manager, Plant Manager, etc).
  • Graduate studies preferred in business areas such as Project Management, Finance, Marketing, or Organizational Studies.
  • Formal project management training preferred.
  • Proven experience successfully managing medium to high complexity projects.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management of operations or manufacturing experience (sourcing equipment, design for manufacturing, implementation, etc). Proven experience with operations financial analysis and models (i.e. Make vs Buy, standard costing, CapEx).
  • Operations experience with fabrication processes (assembly, fabrication, scheduling and forecasting, etc).
  • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills in an executive setting. Ability to establish rapport and credibility.
  • Excellent problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Results driven and deadline oriented. Ability to manage projects to aggressive schedules and results.
  • Ability to handle fast paced and agile culture. Ability to adapt to constant change and competing priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with international work, factories, and teams.
  • Periodic travel (domestic and international) may be required up to 50%.
